I believe all of them have Linux, Windows, and Mac versions, and are Free (as in Beer) (although developers might welcome voluntary contributions of code or $$$). The former is a photo editor and the others are more oriented towards Raw files. There are Open Source programs like GIMP, Raw Therapee, and DarkTable. Lately they have been running a lot of half-off sales, and $25 to get that level of program is a real steal. A good buy at the normal one-time purchase price of $50 for the Mac version, $50 for the Windows version, and $20 for the iPad version. ![]() It doesn't have layers, but it can do basic color adjustment and cropping, in addition to organizing your photos.įor more advanced editing, there is Affinity Photo. So, what do the Mac users that don't use Adobe use to edit their photos?įor basic photo editing, there is Photos, which comes bundled with the machine / OS. ![]() I don't mind buying software, something in the $100 range, but I'm not going to rent software. ![]() I'm familiar with Adobe products and I have a non-rent version of Photoshop on my Windows 10 PC but in order to use it on the Mac I'm going to have to pay the monthly rental fee which I'm not going to do. Windows is getting so bad that don't see myself wanting to support it in the future so I have a new Mac Mini (M1 CPU) on the way. I'm a long time computer user and programmer (30+ years) but I've never done anything Apple. ![]() I've decided to get my feet wet with Apple Mac.
